History

Weatherford Petroleum Consultants AS is a technology and consulting company which was started in December 2005.  The founders of Weatherford Petroleum Consultants AS was David Lysne, Alex Larsen and Erik Nakken who left SINTEF Petroleum Research in November 2005. The idea was to develop an upstream technology and consulting company of at least 100 employees within 5 years.

In 2005, ResLab Reservoir Laboratories, who has its head quarter in Trondheim, Norway, had plans to set up a consulting company within its organisation to bridge the gap between core analysis and reservoir engineering. ResLab and the three founders joined forces and decided to form ResLab Integration AS.

The strategy for ResLab Integration was to set up offices in Trondheim, Bergen and Stavanger during 2006. Next step was to set up a software development team in 2007 and go international in 2008.

In October 2006, Kjetil Alfsnes was appointed COO Business development and region manager of Stavanger office.

At year end, ResLab Integration had fulfilled its targeted presence in Trondheim, Bergen and Stavanger, with 16 consultants before the end of the year.

Early 2007, Ola Fjeld was appointed COO Software Portfolio and Harald Backer was appointed Chief Architect. In January 2007, ResLab Integration acquired ownership to the SCAL simulator SENDRA from IRIS in Stavanger.

In June 2007, Weatherford acquired 100% of the shares in ResLab Reservoir Laboratories, which in turn controls 69% of the shares in ResLab Integration AS.

In March 2009, ResLab Integration AS changed company name to Weatherford Petroleum Consultants AS.

At present, the staff counts 84.
