Weatherford Petroleum Consultants has extensive experience in production technology, ranging from research laboratory scale to offshore field scale. Managing Director David Lysne, and COO Business Development Erik Nakken have both been Research Directors of the internationally recognized SINTEF Multiphase Flow Laboratory. David Lysne was the first in the world to obtain a PhD in hydrate plug removal from pipelines. He was part of a team which plugged a pipeline in the North Sea 19 times to practice fast and safe removal of hydrate plugs from subsea pipelines. Lysne was lecturer at the Norwegian Institute of Technology (NTH) for 10 years, giving the first gas hydrate course on university level in the world. He has given numerous courses on practical procedures for handling hydrate plugs in pipelines and process equipment. More than 600 offshore employed persons have attended these courses so far.
